Seeing beside Looking; Looking besides Seeing

We look forward to seeing things, then we see things to forward to. So you have to ask yourself what's the difference. The difference by definition is that looking is being able to physically recognize an object, person, or thing. Seeing is when the brain processes the information based on prior knowledge, and assigns meaning to the images received. So clearly there is a scientific separation between these two words however their use and meaning go hand in hand in understanding cognitive ability.

The best concept of this is art and creativity. Everyone has their own definition and degree of what art is and it is in that sense of creativity, Seeing and Looking plays in everyone's favor. I believe the culprit behind this is motivation and inspiration.

Response to 4-12-10 Class

Being who we are has to ensnare some sort of vision, an idea of us. I felt like everyone has something to contribute to in order to make a new concept of life. I see most of us have situated in one comfortable area while there are others who are looking for a spot to fill in. Then there is a small percentage of us who make room while in search of creating new spaces.

An interesting questions comes to mind when I look at the different members in the classroom. I ask myself, who are they in relation to me? What do they do, what do they contribute? What do I contribute in terms of them? I think its the experience. I think it is the factor that comes along that we can be the small percentage that makes room, that we are already those situated people in our comfortable area ready for a change. We are all those people who needed to understand that we are all one in the same.

Who do you think I am?

When people first meet me, they say that I am very shy. They see me either as a great guy or a really scary person who can hide things very well. As for the people that know me, well they have something else to say.

"Jacob has earned his place as my closest friend time and time again. He is patient and understanding, but not naive in the least. He's well aware of himself, others, and the dangers of the world. It's amazing how he can put on a straight face every day after all the trials thrown his way, and yet he does. He's an inspiration to those around him, and vice-versa. I wouldn't trade my best friend Jacob for the world."

Yep that was a friend of mine, what can I say.

Whattaya Want From Me

Welcome to the Magical Land of the Jacob. Take a look a me Magic Cards and be bewildered:

As you may know I am a man who is built with an enigma of talents. For one I perform magic. During the summers I perform every Friday. It's a blast.

I love to write, draw, listen to music, make music. It's who I am. I am shy too when I first meet people. Then when I get really comfortable, I kind of get sarcastic.

Who will I be in the future? Hm, I love science, right now I am acting like I am geology reporter creating predictions for the next earthquakes in the world. Yeah tell me about it. Well I am in touch with SOHO which is the Sun's observatory and the United Sates Geological Survey; I research their information for scenarios of potential strong activity. Ask me for more details: cool thing, I have made a couple of predictions and they have happened, freaky huh.

I see myself in the future where I will become famous, for some reason. I will just want to relax and be myself, however I feel that is going to be a nuisance. I would start writing on my spare time, draw some illustrations with it.

I guess I sort of haven't thought about what I will become, I just think of the now because you never know just what might be in front of you, that's my philosophy

Reflection

This Session turned out to be something. I was moved by the stories that were going on, the fears that others had shared. I had to share my own. Aside from the experiment, I needed to step out of the comfort zone and see what it was like. I was enlightened that I was able to share my story and have others listen. I was relieved.

To hear the other stories and become motivated by the serious conversations burned a sense of motivation inside. I felt like I can do a whole lot more with the ideas that churning in my head. I could pour out these ideas and they would make sense. I was moved.

Fearing the Experience

I felt that yesterday's sessions was something of a greater value that I had ever experience. Fear can be something rather a deep feeling to touch rather than to be scared about. Each moment when we encounter something that we don't understand or a situation that we would fail, we fear them. I have witness that there are some fears that I don't fear while there are others that I can sympathize for. The point is that we are not alone in our situations. We need to understand each other as a whole to face the greatest fear yet to come, our future.

FEAR

I will conduct an experiment involving the fear of sound. The subject of this experiment is to see the reaction of what the target group hears versus the authenticity of the sound.

I had made three trials within the experiment. The first trial required that the sound was not even scary at all, but a mixture of various sounds to become scary to see the participants reactions. They were so scared by it, however they were trying to picture the sound which was interesting.

Second trial was mixed sounds of authentic recordings of a supernatural setting along with a mixed audio sound that was not meant to be scary. The reactions seemed to be disturbed by the sound. The images in their mind began to solidify one distinct image by audio sound of a radio.

The Third trial was the most disturbing of them all. It was a live recording of a chilling sound that claims to be sounds of a ghost of some sort screaming inside a basement around 3:00am. They said that it was scary because of the sound of disturbance and screaming.

After the sound trial was done, I explained to them what each of the trails were and I got a better reaction from them to what the sounds were, they were more intrigued and interested rather than alarmed which I did not anticipate.

I anticipate some outcome of natural stimuli of placing a picture to the sound when not being able to see anything. I wanted to see what it was like to respond to the unknown when just hearing sound. Turns out you need picture: sight to amp up the fear.

RULES!!!!

What are rules really? We go through a ton of rules everyday without recognition. For example, we obey the traffic lights, stop signs, clocks, public foundations, and even people.

Why do we follow these rules, simple, to avoid accident. But amidst this idea of avoiding accident, it becomes a limiter to Creativity. When you think about it, think of the interesting products of today that was made by the most common of accidents, I can give some instances like the Potatoe Chip and the Slinky.

This doesn't necessarily mean break as many rules as you can to make Creativity. Learning is in fact an act of Creativity, the more we learn about cause and effect, the better we become creative. I digress.

But when it comes to the awesome ideas of bad-ass people like Batman and Joker you got think how much they get away with. Batman has only one and Joker has none, and you can see how brilliant of a story they make. However put them into the real rule, they may not fly as easy, (Thats why KickAss is a great reference tool, BTW)

Now, done ranting, I think the five rules I would despise is in existence is as follows:

(1) TIME: Time as in counting Day, Night, Hour, Minute, and Second, because it's a waste. You are lost by the potential of yourself devoting to purpose. Constraint of reaching goals at a cetain time strain may cause health damage, pychotic breakdowns, and even death.

(2) AGE: Everything has an expiration date. I for one do not want one. So in our Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Lord Voldemort, Drama, Benjamin-Button tales, we don't want to die. But we need to follow the conservation of energy policy that eventually we will be a pile of dust.

(3) NONBELIEVERS: Everyone should have an open-mind. If not, then they are complete airheads, and should be burnt.

(4) UNEQUAL RIGHTS: Everyone must be equal. If you aren't for it, then don't judge it, non-believer

(5) Gravity: I always want to fly

Now the rules that we need to have just in case

(1) No Stalkers: In the newest cell-phone, wrist-watch, and even mini-electronics has a built in GPS tracker. Now they are even allowing your friends to track you down in the loo because they just can fricken' trust you. I want to ban all of that.
Nuff said.

(2)Equal Rights just cause

(3)Live life to the fullest and Don't fool yourself, be who you want to be

(4)We need to have the retirement age be 35

(5)A Device that prevents Nick Nolte from Driving (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOl9b80CR-E)

Magic Egg for Breakfast

When I wake up in the morning, most of the time, I don't eat breakfast. However, one day there was an exception. I went downstairs to the refrigerator and got out bacon and eggs. I took out the egg and kept one for myself. This one egg was special to me.

I knew the contents of this special egg. Inside this breakable shell, there is the egg white, the yolk, and of course various thin membranes. I decided to empty the egg but retain the shell. I simply grabbed a butter knife, hit the outside shell, gently, and made a small opening for the contents to ooze out unto the frying pan.

Once an empty shell, I took the egg shell to the sink to wash out it's entirety inside and out. I then set it to dry as I ate morning breakfast. Later once the egg was dry, I took it to my room and began filling it confetti paper. The process was tedious. Eventually I made a masterpiece.

I set the egg away for now to eventually be used as a prop for my next magic show. You must be asking, what's the trick, well if you are the brilliant spectator, what would you do with an egg filled with confetti paper.
